Nine bridges and two locks at the Oude IJssel

If you sail on the river Oude IJssel from Doesburg to Terborg, you will come across nine bridges and two locks. The control systems are at the end of their service life. Strukton Systems won the tender to make these objects suitable for the future. The movable bridges and locks are equipped with all kinds of electrical systems that need to be replaced. This also applies to the operating and control installations.

Different than usual

It is an extensive assignment with two clients, two budgets and two contracts. The clients are the Rijn en IJssel Water Board (WRIJ) and Buha, an organization responsible for the management and maintenance of the public space of the municipality of Doetinchem.

For the project, Strukton Systems is working closely with Strukton Infra Specials. Strukton will also be renovating the electrical and control installation of the Saap Roelofs Bridge. In terms of operation and steering, this bridge has similarities with the railway bridge that is right next to it. This is where Strukton Rail’s expertise comes in.
