Together with Strukton Rail, Strukton Power developed the Click & Go Energy Bank. It is a substation for tram networks, which makes optimal use of the energy in public transport.
The Click & Go Energy Bank is a full-scale substation that reinforces the power supply on the existing tram network. A connection to the electricity grid is not required. The Energy Bank stores the required power through the overhead line and delivers that electricity back to passing trams. This unplugged substation is flexible to use and can be connected quickly to the overhead lines. The energy bank can therefore be used as structural reinforcement of the power supply, or as a temporary power boost during diversions and events: click & go.
The size of a parking space
The Energy Bank is designed to perform optimally with batteries from the public transport company’s first generation of city and regional buses. A second life for the high-quality batteries.
This beautifully designed power house fits on a normal parking space. The power house can give something back to the neighbourhood in which it is positioned, since it can be used as a charging station for electric vehicles or as a neighbourhood battery.
