For the Locomotive Workshop Rotterdam (LWR), Strukton Power realised a test facility for locomotives with 4 different input voltages.
Flexible understation
Diversity of catenary voltages in the EU requires locomotives with multiple input voltages to drive across Europe.
Design of a flexible substation to power the catenary with 1500 V DC, 3000 V DC, 15 kV AC (162/3 Hz) en 25kV AC (50 Hz).
This allows all locomotives to be tested in one place. Convenient, flexible and efficient.
